Ontarios Higlands searches for bloggers to help promote area

Pembroke, ON (July 28, 2011) – Do you actively enjoy some of the many attractions that the Ontario’s Highlands region has to offer? Are you a local resident, small business owner or frequent visitor to the region that enjoys telling your latest exploits to others? Do you long for a following of adoring fans? Are you looking to give back to the community you love by sharing it to the world? Is writing more than just a hobby for you – is it your passion? If you have answered a resounding ‘yes’ to these questions, then the Ontario’s Highlands Tourism Organization (OHTO) wants you!

The OHTO is creating a new, innovative tourism website at http://ontarioshighlands.ca which will highlight ten of the most popular experiences in Ontario’s Highlands: Arts, Culture & Heritage; Cycling; Festivals & Events; Fishing; Golf; Motorsports (ATVing, motocross, and/or boating); Paddling (flatwater and/or whitewater); Snowmobiling; and Winter Adventure (skiing, snowshoeing, dog sledding, etc.) The OHTO is looking for bloggers to write about these experiences so that visitors can get a first-hand impression of what the region is all about.

“The experiences in Ontario’s Highlands are some of the best to be had in all of Ontario,” says Leah Piltz, Marketing and Communications Coordinator at the OHTO. “What better way to share them with the world then through a blog written by someone who enjoys and participates in our activities?” If you believe that you are the ideal person for the job, show the OHTO that you have what it takes!

Anyone who is interested in blogging for the OHTO is asked to submit: (1) their topic selection, (2) a sample blog post, and (3) a bio describing their connection to the Ontario’s Highlands region and why they chose their selected topic, to leah.piltz@ohto.ca Completed applications must be received by Friday, August 26 at 4 pm. Successful applicants are required to have regular access to email and the internet, and be able to post new entries at least once per month starting in September. Blogging for the OHTO is done on a volunteer basis, but as a blogger you can expect to receive some great perks on things to see and do within the region. Apply now – your fan following awaits!

The OHTO is a not-for-profit organization mandated by the Province of Ontario to increase tourism within the counties of Haliburton, Lanark, and Renfrew and portions of Frontenac, Hastings, and Lennox and Addington. The OHTO works in collaboration with eight sub-regional marketing partners, tourism agencies, and authorities including: Algonquin Nation, Bancroft & District Chamber of Commerce, ComfortCountry.ca, Haliburton Highlands, Lanark County Tourism, Land O' Lakes Tourist Association, Ottawa Valley Tourist Association, and the Rideau Heritage Route Tourism Association.
