Celebrate the harvest with the Rural Rambles Agriculture and Food Weekend
Learn how maple syrup was made in the old days at MaplesSide Sugar Bush!

(Pembroke, ON) – Celebrate the harvest with a farm adventure and delicious local cuisine with the Rural Ramble’s Agriculture & Food weekend, September 25th and 26th.

A healthy appetite for knowledge and good food is a must for this theme weekend! Some of the things a Rambler can do on include:  

  • Learn about the Ottawa Valley Food Co-op and enjoy a wagon ride at Dobson’s Grassfed Beef Farm and Rainbow Heritage Gardens
  • See how maple syrup is made, both old and new, at Mapleside Sugar Bush
  • Discover local, organic and free range farming with Tickle Island Farm
  • Enjoy a treat for both the eyes and the taste buds at the annual “Art on the Beach” exhibit held at The Moose on the Beach restaurant
  • Visit Ballintotas Alpacas and learn all about their exotic camelids and their valuable fiber
  • Take in the Giant Pumpkin Weigh-Off competition and Giant Pumpkin Boat Races at Hugli’s Blueberry Ranch
  • Sample locally crafted, all natural, gourmet ice cream and honey at Serendipity on the River
  • Tour a greenhouse and try plant transplanting at Gerber’s Nursery
  • Enjoy a fun and educational day at Waddles’N’Wags Hobby Farm
  • Go trailblazing and horseback riding at Frontier Trails
  • Take in the free art exhibit and spoken word performances at Sands on Golden Lake as you enjoy their special menu featuring local garlic
  • Explore the world of handcrafted soaps made from goats’ milk and rain water at Opeongo Mountain Meadow Soap
 
This year’s event is free to the public which means there are no bracelets to buy, however admission fees may apply for certain activities (refer to the official event guide for further details). Ramblers can pick up a copy of the official Rural Ramble event guide at various retail outlets located throughout Renfrew County or download a copy via the OVTA’s website at www.ottawavalley.travel
