Beachburg – To celebrate the return of Canada's troops from overseas and show their continuing support, RiverRun Rafting is offering free raft trips and use of their resort facilities to all military personnel and their families on Sunday, June 28, 2009.



"This tribute to our troops and their families is made possible with the generosity and support of all RiverRun staff who are donating their time for this event," Ms. Maloney says.  Family-operated and serving the Ottawa Valley for 29 years, RiverRun Rafting has been offering 50% discounts on Red Fridays for the past 3 years and is continuing this offer for the 2009 season.

Proudly Canadian, RiverRun is offering three different rafting excursions for participants to choose from.  The 12 passenger High Adventure Raft Trip is perfect for first time rafters with a required minimum age 11 years and weight of 90 lbs.  The Family Raft Trip is gentle enough for seniors and children as young as 6 years of age and has a minimum weight requirement of 50 lbs.   The 6 passenger Ultimate High Adventure Raft Trip is geared  toward the more adventurous and has a minimum age of 16 and weight of 90 lbs. 




Between 3 and 4 hours in length, all excursions include experienced and certified river guides in each raft, all necessary equipment and full use of RiverRun resort activities and beach-front.  Military and family members that are not able to raft are encouraged to come out and enjoy the beach and resort.  A BBQ picnic lunch is available at a nominal cost by advance reservations or families are welcome to bring their own picnic.   Reservations are required and Military ID will be checked upon arrival.  


RiverRun owner, Margaret Maloney says, "This event is dedicated to my father Thomas Maloney and his brothers, Jack and Harold who served in Canadian Military during the years of World War II."  The event also honours Ms. Maloney's mother Trudy, a Dutch-Canadian war bride who arrived in Halifax in 1947 aboard the Queen Mary.
