The Township of Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards is proud to present –
Echoes of Erin
Friday, October 17, 2014 7:30 PM
Festival Hall, 401 Isabella Street, Pembroke, Ontario
Echoes of Erin is a colourful and exciting show of Irish traditional music, song, dance and humour with some of the finest traditional musicians and dancers in Ireland gracing the stage.
This fast-moving show merges the most soulful of detailed solo artistry with lighter ensemble music while the dancers step it out to a wide variety of rhythms. Traditional songs of Ireland and the Diaspora tell the story of the Gael in both sombre and joyous mood. Master of Ceremonies, Dic Béimis brings his much lauded style of wit, humour, and narrative to the stage.
An exciting inclusion to the performance at Festival Hall will be the choir from Our Lady of the Angels Church in Brudenell Ontario. The choir will sing O’ Canada and sing the English chorus of the Irish National Anthem Amhrán na bhFiann (A Soldier's Song).
The Echoes of Erin performers will arrive on Thursday October 16 and perform at Killaloe Public School at 9am for KPS, St Andrew’s and St Mary’s school children. Later that day the performers will be at the township office for lunch and a visit to the Irish Gathering Cultural Centre and other local points of interest.
Residents of Killaloe and area will be providing accommodation for the performers Thursday and Friday evenings.
“From lilting ballads to raucous jigs, and everything in between, Echoes of Erin will have you clapping your hands, stomping your feet and smiling all night long. Lose yourself in their infectious energy, brilliant musicianship, precision dancing, and wry humour.”
